AthX Top Pitchers, Hitters & Team Scores (September 7, 2026)

One shutout owned Monday. The Mets still won the team board.

September 7, 2026 was an 11-game Monday, and the loudest pitching line did not need a bullpen. Jesús Luzardo threw a two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts in Philadelphia. The game lasted 1 hour, 51 minutes. Kyle Schwarber hit the only run.

The team board went a different direction. The New York Mets scored nine in Miami and posted the day's best AthX Engine team score. Henry Bolte led hitters with a homer, three walks, and three steals in a walk-off win. Those three facts do not contradict each other. They are Monday.

8San Francisco Giants95-4Walk-off in the 11th vs St. Louis
9Milwaukee Brewers84-3Eighth-inning rally vs Chicago Cubs
10San Diego Padres73-2Pivetta's return from the IL

The Phillies beat Atlanta 1-0 and still finished with 5 team FP. That is the Luzardo problem in team scoring: a shutout with one run does not fill a team table the way nine runs in Miami do. The Mets sit first because they scored nine and kept scoring after Miami's three-run second.

Luzardo at 44 FP is not a close race. A complete-game shutout with 12 strikeouts and one walk is a different conversation from everyone else's six-inning quality start. Holmes threw six shutout innings in the same game and still sits 23 FP behind him. Cameron threw six scoreless at Kauffman and took a no-decision after Arizona scored five in the 10th. Boyd worked seven innings and lost 4-3 when Milwaukee scored three in the eighth.

Bolte's night was on-base value with a homer attached. Crow-Armstrong hit his 41st and stole two in a 4-3 loss at Milwaukee. Mayo's two homers snapped Baltimore's six-game skid. Lowe's pinch-hit three-run shot in the ninth made a 6-1 game 6-4 and still left Cleveland short.

Six featured games from Monday

  • Phillies 1, Braves 0: Luzardo's first career shutout, 12 K, 109 pitches. Schwarber's 43rd homer in the eighth was the only run.
  • Mets 9, Marlins 4: A.J. Ewing 3-for-5, 3 RBI. Miami's three-run second did not last. New York posted the day's top team score.
  • Dodgers 6, Reds 3: Hernández's three-run homer in the sixth. Sheehan 10 Ks in his first start since August 2. Fifth straight win.
  • Red Sox 5, Angels 2: Rutschman off the Pesky Pole. Duran's 20th. Bello five scoreless in his first start since early June.
  • Orioles 6, Guardians 4: Mayo twice. Rogers 7 1/3, one run. Baltimore snaps a six-game skid.
  • Athletics 6, Blue Jays 5: Bolte's on-base night. Giménez tied it in the ninth. McNeil's infield single won it.
  • Other games: Diamondbacks 5, Royals 4 (F/10); Brewers 4, Cubs 3; Tigers 5, Twins 4; Padres 3, Nationals 2; Giants 5, Cardinals 4 (F/11).

    What stood out

Luzardo's 44 FP is the card. Complete games this clean do not show up every Monday, and Holmes throwing six shutout innings on the other side makes the 1-0 even stranger. The Phillies still sit four back in the NL East after splitting the series.

The hitter board belonged to a player who walked three times and stole three bases, not only to the two-homer nights. Bolte's 17 FP is why AthX Engine scoring cares about more than the long ball. Crow-Armstrong's 41st homer in a loss is the other September note: the Cubs keep getting production from the middle of the order and keep dropping one-run games.
