Two homers, six RBIs, and a stadium full of little Murakamis
July 26, 2026 – Chicago – Rate Field handed out bobbleheads of Munetaka Murakami’s first big-league homer. Then the real Murakami made them look outdated by lunchtime.
He went deep twice, drove in a career-high six runs, and finished 3-for-5. His parents threw out the first pitches. Sean Newcomb (1-2) got the win. And the Chicago White Sox beat the Houston Astros 12-3, per local and national reports.
Jeremy Peña had opened the game with a solo shot. Murakami answered in the first with a two-run blast the other way. By the eighth, he’d added a two-run single and another homer. Chicago hit five on the night. The AL Central lead grew to a season-high 2½ games after Cleveland lost earlier.
Murakami led the whole slate
