Standing ovations, then a homecoming bruise
July 20, 2026 – Milwaukee – Freddy Peralta got two ovations. The Brewers got the win.
Cooper Pratt hit his first major league homer and finished with three hits. Joey Ortiz launched a three-run shot. Andrew Vaughn added a two-run blast. And the Milwaukee Brewers beat the New York Mets 8-3, spoiling Peralta's first start against his old club, per the Associated Press.
Milwaukee (63-37) won its fourth straight and overtook the Dodgers for the best record in baseball.
Misiorowski length, Peralta traffic
Jacob Misiorowski struck out six and allowed one unearned run over four innings in his first appearance since July 7 after arm fatigue. Craig Yoho (2-0) worked a clean frame for the win. Lance McCullers debuted with three innings.
Peralta (5-9) gave up seven runs over 5 1/3. The video tribute played. The crowd stood when he left trailing 5-1. The deadline board still lists him as a Mets trade chip. Nights like this do not help the asking price.
