Fourteen finals on Saturday. Four of them needed extra time: Ottawa 3-2 SO over Nashville, Pittsburgh 2-1 SO over Dallas, Vegas 2-1 OT over Los Angeles, and Montreal 1-0 SO over Detroit. AthX Engine (our projection and scoring system) scored every NHL box. We recapped the six highest team lines. We did not invent extra games.
Top team fantasy scores
AthX Engine team points pay a win, half-credit for an overtime loss, then goals for and against. A 6-3 jumps the board. A 1-0 shootout still pays. Regulation losses that get outscored hard floor at 0.
| Rank | Team | Score | AthX Engine FP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Toronto Maple Leafs | 6-3 at COL | 22.20 |
| 2 | Boston Bruins | 5-1 vs PHI | 22.00 |
| 3 | Carolina Hurricanes | 5-2 at CHI | 21.00 |
| 4 | St. Louis Blues | 5-3 vs CBJ | 20.00 |
| 4 | Tampa Bay Lightning | 5-3 at NYI | 20.00 |
| 6 | New Jersey Devils | 4-1 vs VAN | 19.80 |
| 6 | Minnesota Wild | 4-1 at FLA | 19.80 |
| 6 | Utah Mammoth | 4-1 at BUF | 19.80 |
| 9 | Anaheim Ducks | 4-2 at CGY | 18.80 |
| 10 | Edmonton Oilers | 3-1 at SJS | 17.60 |
Toronto is the club night on 6-3. Boston sits 0.20 behind on 5-1. Three clubs share 19.80 on 4-1. New Jersey and Utah did not get recaps. Minnesota did, because Kaprizov's hat trick sat on the skater board with Hagel and Nylander.
Top skaters
C, W, and D only. Goalies have their own table. Trevor Connelly is not seeded on AthX player pages, so that name stays unlinked.
| Rank | Player | Pos | Team | AthX Engine FP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Brandon Hagel | W | TBL | 20.10 |
| 2 | Kirill Kaprizov | W | MIN | 18.40 |
| 2 | William Nylander | W | TOR | 18.40 |
| 4 | Auston Matthews | C | TOR | 18.00 |
| 5 | Nico Hischier | C | NJD | 13.90 |
| 6 | Nathan MacKinnon | C | COL | 12.30 |
| 7 | Jake Guentzel | C | TBL | 10.90 |
| 8 | Trevor Connelly | W | VGK | 10.60 |
| 9 | Jimmy Snuggerud | W | STL | 10.30 |
| 10 | Jesper Bratt | W | NJD | 10.00 |
Hagel's 20.10 is three goals, an assist, six shots, and four blocks after New York had tied it 3-3. Kaprizov's 18.40 is a hat trick plus an assist in Florida's home opener, matching Nylander's two goals and three assists in Denver. Matthews is 0.40 behind his linemate. Hischier's two power-play goals in a 4-1 over Vancouver did not get a recap. They still show here. Tim Stützle (9.90) sits just outside this ten.
Top goalies
Win, 0.4 per save, minus 1.2 per goal against, plus 2 for a shutout, plus 0.5 for an overtime loss. Jacob Fowler, Daniil Tarasov, Carter Hart, Sergei Bobrovsky, and Ville Husso are unlinked.
| Rank | Player | Team | AthX Engine FP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jacob Fowler | MTL | 17.00 |
| 2 | Jesper Wallstedt | MIN | 13.40 |
| 3 | Daniil Tarasov | DET | 12.50 |
| 4 | Carter Hart | VGK | 12.20 |
| 5 | Arturs Silovs | PIT | 11.40 |
| 5 | Sergei Bobrovsky | TOR | 11.40 |
| 5 | Ville Husso | ANA | 11.40 |
| 8 | Karel Vejmelka | UTA | 11.00 |
| 9 | Brandon Bussi | CAR | 10.20 |
| 10 | Darcy Kuemper | LAK | 10.10 |
Fowler's 30-save shootout win (0 goals against in 65:00 of hockey) is the night's top player line. Montreal's 14.20 team total sat well below the recap cut, so we did not swap it in for a 4-1. Tarasov takes 12.50 on the other side of that same 1-0, the card paying 0.5 for the shootout loss. Wallstedt's 29-save 4-1 is the recapped goalie night. Bobrovsky's first Toronto win is 11.40 on 30 saves.
Featured games
Saturday had 14 finals. These six are recapped. New Jersey, Utah, and Anaheim all sat at or just under 19.80 and are not recapped.
What stood out
Three things.
First, the skater board belongs to hat tricks and a five-point Nylander night. Hagel waited until 18:16. Kaprizov did not wait at all. Toronto still owns the team table because Matthews went with him.
Second, the goalie board is a 1-0 in Montreal that we did not recap. Fowler 17.00, Tarasov 12.50. If you only read the six game stories, you miss the night's best individual line.
Third, Philadelphia is 0-4-2. Boston did not need 15 shots against to make that the story. Carolina is 4-1-1. Chicago is 1-5-0. Those two facts sat in the same building for 60 minutes.
Track the board on the marketplace. Fantasy points measure the box. Price is what traders will pay. They are not the same number.
