Bruins 5, Flyers 1: Minten a Goal and Two Assists at the Garden

October 10, 2026 - Boston - Philadelphia put three shots on Jeremy Swayman in the first 30 minutes. Pavel Zacha already had one in the net. TD Garden was not going to wait on a club that had not won yet.

The Boston Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-1. Boston is 4-2-0 and finished a three-game homestand 2-1-0, the NHL recap said. Philadelphia is 0-4-2, the only winless team in the East, the Associated Press recap said. Shots were 32-15 Boston. Attendance is not in the landing file.

Fraser Minten had a goal and two assists. He is not seeded on AthX player pages, so the name stays unlinked. Zacha, Marat Khusnutdinov, and Casey Mittelstadt are unlinked too. Mason Lohrei scored. JJ Peterka had two assists. Swayman stopped 14 of 15. Dan Vladar stopped 27 of 32.

The Associated Press recap said Swayman started for the fifth time in six games and that the 14-save win was his 136th, tying Andy Moog for eighth on Boston's all-time list. Charlie McAvoy served the last of a six-game suspension from a slash in last spring's playoffs, that same recap said.

Zacha's first, then a 4-on-2 for Lohrei

Zacha scored at 12:21 of the first. David Pastrnak fed him a backhand in the high slot. The wrister knuckled, hit Vladar's pad, and trickled in. 1-0. The NHL recap called it Zacha's first of the season.

Zacha told NHL.com it felt good going over the boards knowing the line was going to create something every shift. On Minten: "He's fun to watch and he has good potential. I like the way he's grown as a player, and even in the locker room with the way he talks."

Boston led 19-3 in shots through 30 minutes and 22-8 after two, the Associated Press recap said. Lohrei made it 2-0 at 17:12 of the second. Swayman made a blocker save. The Bruins went the other way 4-on-2. Peterka found Lohrei in the left circle. Minten the other assist.

Lohrei told NHL.com he is usually trying to get above the forecheck, and sometimes the ice opens as the fourth man. He wanted to go back door to Khusnutdinov. The defense pinched. He shot.

Khusnutdinov, Martone, then Minten to 5-1

Khusnutdinov scored at 1:55 of the third off Minten's pass from behind the net. 3-0.

Porter Martone, unlinked, scored on the power play at 6:32 from David Jiricek and Denver Barkey. Both unlinked. 3-1. Martone told NHL.com it was the time of the game they needed something to click. On the start: it is not a lack of effort. The room cares. They are not having fun. They need jam.

Mittelstadt redirected an Elias Lindholm centering pass through the five-hole at 9:21. James Hagens the other assist. Hagens is unlinked. 4-1.

Minten closed it at 15:59 from Peterka and Hampus Lindholm. The NHL recap said the 22-year-old signed a seven-year, $50.4 million extension on Sept. 8 that starts next season, and that this was his second goal of the year. Minten: he feels fast, can make plays, and still be responsible.

Travis Konecny (lower body) and Cam York (upper body) did not play, both day to day, the NHL recap said. York is unlinked. Philadelphia put Rasmus Ristolainen on injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 3 (upper body) and said Nikita Grebenkin had back surgery and will miss at least four months. Both unlinked. Michael Bunting played his second game after signing this week, the Associated Press recap said. Unlinked.

Boston visits San Jose on Tuesday, the first of a four-game trip. Philadelphia hosts Carolina on Sunday.
