Blues 5, Blue Jackets 3: Snuggerud Twice After a 2-0 Hole

October 10, 2026 - St. Louis - Columbus led 2-0 after one. Then Jimmy Snuggerud scored twice in 3:30, and Enterprise Center had the game it wanted. The one that actually decided it came later, on a delayed penalty, when Jonatan Berggren found a rebound Jet Greaves had just robbed.

The St. Louis Blues beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3. St. Louis is 2-2-1 and snapped a three-game skid (0-2-1), the NHL recap said. Columbus is 2-2-0 after a 3-2 shootout win over Pittsburgh on Friday. Shots were 27-23 St. Louis. Columbus had 10-4 after one and 13 the rest of the way, that same recap said.

Dylan Holloway had three assists. He is not seeded on AthX player pages, so the name stays unlinked. Berggren, Jake Neighbours, and Pavel Buchnevich are unlinked too. Jordan Binnington stopped 20 of 23. Greaves stopped 22 of 26.

The Associated Press recap said this was Binnington's second start after six goals against in a loss at Colorado, that St. Louis had lost its previous six to Columbus, and that Dillon Dube will be re-evaluated in eight weeks after a neck injury Thursday against San Jose. Dube is unlinked.

Nichushkin and Johnson, then the second flipped

Valeri Nichushkin scored at 16:10. Erik Gudbranson drove the left side and centered off the net. Sean Monahan's shot caught a piece of Nichushkin. Both helpers unlinked. 1-0.

Kent Johnson made it 2-0 at 19:48 from the left circle, top corner. Adam Fantilli and Zach Werenski on the play. Fantilli is unlinked.

Neighbours cut it to 2-1 at 6:10 of the second, whacking a rebound of Justin Barron's slap shot. Holloway the other assist. Barron is unlinked.

Snuggerud tied it at 9:02. Philip Broberg went around Cole Sillinger in the left circle and found Snuggerud crashing the net behind Werenski. Holloway again. Sillinger is unlinked. 2-2.

Snuggerud put St. Louis up at 12:32, a wrist shot from the right circle off a Robert Thomas drop pass, in off the far post. Holloway's third helper. 3-2.

Snuggerud told NHL.com Broberg is fast enough to beat a defenseman wide, so you drive the back post. On the second: he tried to go low, four guys in front, and sometimes you do not hear the boards.

Sillinger ties it. Berggren does not wait for the power play.

Sillinger tied it at 6:51 of the third on a rebound Binnington did not cover. Charlie Coyle and Carson Soucy unlinked. 3-3.

Berggren scored the winner at 9:33 on a delayed penalty. Greaves robbed Mason McTavish. Berggren lifted the rebound. McTavish and Colton Parayko on the play. 4-3.

Berggren, asked if he wanted the power play instead: no, take the goal. Lucky bounce. The team deserved the win. Parayko went around the net, McTavish got a chance, the puck bounced.

Buchnevich closed it at 19:17 into an empty net. The NHL landing lists the empty-net modifier. 5-3.

Columbus coach Rick Bowness told NHL.com the thought process got away from them, the intensity left, and there were terrible mental mistakes. Sean Monahan said they came out strong on a back-to-back and then got away from their game.

Snuggerud, on the building: the fans have been humming both home games these past three days. Winning one like that is good for the city.

St. Louis visits Ottawa on Tuesday. Columbus hosts Florida that night.
