Yankees 4, Red Sox 0: Gil and Stanton Owned Fenway

April 21, 2026 - Boston - Rivalry games do not always need twenty runs to feel definitive. The New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 4-0 at Fenway Park behind Luis Gil's 6.1 scoreless innings and Giancarlo Stanton's early homer and late two-run double.

Boston finished with four hits and 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position, per ESPN's box score. Cutter Early took the loss after allowing Stanton's solo shot leading off the second and a pair of sixth-inning runs when Stanton doubled home Aaron Judge and Amed Rosario.

Gil worked through traffic without breaking

Gil walked three and struck out only two, but he kept the ball on the ground and off the barrel when it mattered. Brent Headrick, Tim Hill, and David Bednar covered the last 2.2 innings without allowing a run, completing the shutout.

Stanton supplied the offense

Stanton finished with three RBIs. Randal Grichuk doubled home Cody Bellinger in the eighth for the final margin. Judge went hitless with four strikeouts, which tells you how narrow Boston's margin for error was: even a quiet night from the middle of New York's order did not open a door.

AthX Engine fantasy angle

Shutouts and concentrated RBI lines tend to pop on AthX Engine. Gil profiles near the top of the pitching board for April 21, while Stanton leads New York's hitter scoring for the game.

AthX Engine measures fantasy output from the box score; AthX share prices still reflect dynamic pricing and market activity beyond one night.

What it meant

For the Yankees, this was a clean road template: one loud bat, one composed starter, and a bullpen that did not negotiate. For the Red Sox, it was a night of hard contact that never clustered into a crooked number.
