Yankees 15, Royals 1: Rosario Homers Twice in Franchise-First Offensive Night

The lead

May 26, 2026 - Kansas City - The New York Yankees clubbed six home runs and became the first team in franchise history to get at least two hits from every starter in a 15-1 rout of the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium, per the Associated Press recap on TSN.

Amed Rosario homered twice and drove in four runs. Cody Bellinger, Anthony Volpe, Trent Grisham, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. also went deep as New York won its 12th straight over Kansas City.

How the game turned

Cody Bellinger opened the scoring with a two-out homer in the first. A replay overturned what looked like a catch on Ben Rice's liner, and Rosario followed with a 420-foot, two-run shot for 4-0. Volpe's first homer of 2026 made it 5-0 in the second, and a four-run third pushed the lead to 9-0.

Aaron Judge doubled home a run in the fifth. Grisham and Chisholm homered in the seventh and eighth, and Rosario capped the night with a two-run blast off position player Tyler Tolbert in the ninth.

Pitching and matchup notes

Cam Schlittler (7-2) allowed one run on four hits over six innings—Bobby Witt Jr.'s solo homer was the only damage. Schlittler struck out six without a walk and has allowed one earned run or fewer in seven of his last eight starts.

AthX Engine graded New York at 32 team FP—the top mark on the 15-game Tuesday card—with Rosario at 17 hitting FP and Schlittler at 20 pitching FP.

Bats that changed the board

The Yankees finished with 24 hits, their most in a game since July 2011. Rosario went 4-for-6 with four RBI; Grisham, Rice, Volpe, and Austin Wells had three hits apiece.

AthX Engine fantasy angle

A 32 team FP night with six homers and spread production across the lineup is the AthX Engine ceiling for a rout—Rosario's 17 hitting FP led hitters without needing a single 20 FP bat elsewhere. Daily scoring remains separate from dynamic pricing.

What comes next

The Yankees completed a sweep Wednesday behind Gerrit Cole, per AP probables from the series.
