Five in the second, and Toronto never caught the train
July 17, 2026 – Toronto – The White Sox did not ease into the second half. They jumped it.
Sam Antonacci hit a two-run homer. Braden Montgomery drove in four. Colson Montgomery cleared the bases with a double. And the Chicago White Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 12-4, extending the win streak to four, per the Associated Press.
Chicago improved to 4-0 against Toronto this season and pulled a half-game clear in the AL Central.
The second inning that wrote the script
Colson Montgomery and Andrew Benintendi singled to open the second. Kyle Teel doubled home the first run. Braden Montgomery plated another on a fielder's choice. Chase Meidroth singled in a run. Antonacci's two-run rainbow over the right-field wall made it 5-0 before Toronto had a useful answer.
The Jays scratched singles runs in the third through sixth, including homers from George Springer, Luis Urías, and others. Never enough. Chicago's fifth featured Colson Montgomery's bases-clearing double. The seventh belonged to Braden: three-run triple to the wall, then a sac fly for 12-4.
Every Sox starter had a hit. Rogers Centre packed. Blue Jays last place and looking it.
Schweitzer's first win from the bullpen
Rookie lefty Tyler Schweitzer (1-0) threw three shutout relief innings with three strikeouts to earn his first career win. The bridge after the starter mattered as much as the early outburst. Chicago put away a team it has owned all year and left town with the Central lead.
