White Sox 10, Rangers 4: Doyle's Three-Run Shot in the Sixth

Burke walked eight. Newcomb still handed Chicago a win.

August 26, 2026 – Chicago – Sean Burke started and lasted three innings with eight walks. That is not a quality start. It is also not how the Chicago White Sox lost.

Sean Newcomb threw three scoreless after him. Brenton Doyle hit a three-run homer in the sixth. Chicago beat the Texas Rangers 10-4 at Rate Field.

MacKenzie Gore lasted 3 2/3 innings and allowed four runs. Joc Pederson's two-run homer in the third tied it 2-2. Chicago scored the next eight.

Peters, then Doyle, then the sixth got loud

Braden Montgomery doubled home a run in the second. Doyle singled home Montgomery. 2-0. Pederson tied it. Miguel Vargas and Sam Antonacci singled home runs in the fourth. Tristan Peters homered in the fifth, his 12th, scoring Jake Rogers. 6-2.

The sixth is the inning Texas will replay. Antonacci singled home Vargas. Doyle then homered to left-center with Murakami and Montgomery on. 10-2. Doyle finished 2-for-4 with four RBI. Peters went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI.

Robby Ahlstrom allowed five in the sixth for Texas. Ezequiel Duran singled in two in the seventh to make it 10-4. Jonathan Cannon finished three innings for the save. Newcomb got the win.

A starter who walks eight usually loses. Burke did not, because Chicago's lineup kept cashing the next at-bat and Newcomb threw zeroes.
