Dividend Basics
What Are Dividends?
Dividends are monthly payments you receive when you hold shares of players who are performing well. Think of it like earning interest on your investments - you're being rewarded for holding shares of players who are meeting or exceeding expectations. Unlike traditional sports betting or daily fantasy sports where you only make money if you win, dividends allow you to earn money simply by holding shares of well-performing players. This is one of the key ways AthX helps you build long-term wealth.
How Much Can You Earn?
Per-Holding Dividends: Each eligible holding earns 1% of its value monthly (~5% over a typical 6-month season if the player stays on pace).
Portfolio-Wide Bonuses:
Example: If you hold $1,000 worth of eligible shares:
Eligibility Requirements
To earn dividends on a holding, you need to: 1. Hold for 30+ Days: You must hold the shares for at least 30 days before they become eligible 2. Player Must Be "On Pace": The player must be performing at or above the pace implied by their purchase price 3. Shares Still in Portfolio: You must still own the shares (haven't sold them) "On Pace" Explained: A player is "on pace" if their current fantasy point production suggests they'll meet or exceed the projection implied by the price you paid. If you bought a player at $100 and they're producing fantasy points at a rate that would justify a $100+ price, they're on pace.
How Dividends Are Calculated
Monthly Dividend Formula
For each eligible holding:
Dividend = (Shares Remaining × Purchase Price) × 1%Important: Dividends are calculated based on your original purchase price, not the current market price. This means if you bought shares at $50 and they're now worth $60, you still earn dividends based on the $50 purchase price.
Real Example
Let's say you bought 10 shares of a player at $50 per share:
If the player stays on pace for 6 months:
FIFO (First In, First Out) Tracking
AthX uses FIFO (First In, First Out) tracking for dividends. This means:

Tips for Maximizing Dividends
1. Hold Long-Term
The longer you hold, the more dividends you can earn. Each month you hold an eligible share (after the initial 30-day period), you earn another 1% dividend. Over a 6-month season, that's roughly 5% in dividends (plus any price appreciation).
2. Focus on "On Pace" Players
Research players likely to maintain or exceed their pace. Look for:
3. Diversify Your Portfolio
Hold multiple players to:
4. Consider Upgrading to Pro
Pro users earn 2x the diverse holdings bonus (0.50% vs 0.25%). If you're serious about building wealth through dividends, upgrading to Pro can significantly increase your monthly bonus earnings.
5. Reinvest Dividends
Use dividend payments to buy more shares. This compounds your returns - you earn dividends on your dividends! Example (starting with $1,000 portfolio):
Dividends vs. Price Appreciation
Dividends are just one way to make money on AthX:

Price Appreciation:
Best Strategy: Combine both! Hold shares for dividends while also making strategic trades to capture price appreciation.
Common Questions
Q: Do free shares earn dividends?
A: Yes! Free shares (from signup or referrals) are eligible for dividends just like purchased shares.
Q: What happens if a player stops being "on pace"?

A: Team shares may have different dividend rules. Check the marketplace for specific details on each entity type.
Q: When are dividends paid?
A: Dividends are calculated and paid monthly, typically after performance data is updated.
