Reds 7, Rockies 2: Steer's Inside-the-Parker and Singer at Coors

Inside the park at Coors, and Singer refuses the altitude story

July 17, 2026 – Denver – Coors Field invites crooked numbers. Brady Singer brought a different plan.

Spencer Steer hit two homers, including an inside-the-park sprint in the eighth. Brady Singer allowed four hits over seven. Elly De La Cruz went 4-for-5 with a late solo shot. And the Cincinnati Reds beat the Colorado Rockies 7-2, per the Associated Press.

Four Cincinnati homers. One of them the hard way around the bases.

Back-to-back in the sixth, chaos in the eighth

Sal Stewart doubled home De La Cruz in the first for 1-0. Colorado tied it on a Troy Johnston sac fly in the fifth. Then the bullpen door opened for the Rockies, and Cincinnati walked through it.

Steer crushed a 404-foot two-run shot in the sixth. Eugenio Suárez went back-to-back. 4-1. Stewart's sac fly in the seventh made it five. Willi Castro answered with a solo for Colorado. Then Steer again: ball off the wall, odd bounce, race home, Hunter Goodman couldn't handle the relay. Inside-the-park for 6-2. De La Cruz's 434-foot solo in the ninth was the encore.

Singer's quality start in the thin air

Singer (4-9) struck out six, walked nobody, and needed 96 pitches for seven innings. Two runs. His fifth quality start. Coors nights get blamed on the park when starters melt. This one belonged to the visitor.

Gabriel Hughes deserved a cleaner exit after 5 1/3, but the Rockies bullpen turned a one-run game into a power showcase for Cincinnati.

AthX Engine angle

Singer's 21 pitching FP cracked Friday's top arms. Steer (12 FP) and De La Cruz (10 FP) both hit the hitter board. Reds 15 team FP landed sixth. AthX Engine loved the production; dynamic pricing still decides what traders pay next.

What comes next

Cincinnati's second half opened with power and a pitching line you can trust on the road. Colorado keeps searching for bullpen answers at altitude.
