That was the whole scoring. Sandy Alcantara (11-6) worked seven shutout innings, four hits, one walk, five strikeouts. It was his major league-leading 16th quality start and the 111th of his career, passing Ricky Nolasco for the franchise record. Pete Fairbanks closed it for save No. 14. And the Miami Marlins beat the Philadelphia Phillies 1-0, per the Associated Press.
Nola (3-9) lasted 5 2/3 and allowed only the Stowers homer. Philadelphia fell to 3-8 since the All-Star break. A night after Miami’s walk-off ended a 12-game skid, Alcantara made the series clincher look inevitable.
