Shota Imanaga threw seven shutout innings on 99 pitches. Nico Hoerner cleared the bases with a triple and finished with four RBIs. Alex Bregman homered. And the Chicago Cubs beat the Minnesota Twins 10-1, per the Associated Press.
Eight runs before the fourth inning ended. Zebby Matthews (4-7) was done after three.
Hoerner's triple, then the flood
Seiya Suzuki doubled. Bregman went deep for a 2-0 lead. Pedro Ramírez doubled and scored on Carson Kelly's single. In the third, Michael Busch singled, walks loaded the bases, and Hoerner triple-hopped past center field. Ramírez singled him home. 7-0.
Pete Crow-Armstrong doubled to open the fourth. Suzuki walked. Busch singled again. An error at third chased Matthews. Imanaga never needed a big cushion, but he got one.
