Twins, Derek Falvey Mutually Agree to Part Ways
Derek Falvey, president of baseball and business operations for the Minnesota Twins, departed the organization in a mutual agreement announced on Friday, January 31, 2026. General manager Jeremy Zoll will assume a more prominent role overseeing baseball operations, reporting directly to ownership; Tom Pohlad will handle business operations on an interim basis while the club searches for a new president of business operations.
Background
Falvey had been with the Twins since 2016, when he was hired to run baseball operations. He was promoted to oversee both baseball and business operations in March 2025. The departure comes shortly after new principal owner Tom Pohlad took over primary operations in December 2025. Pohlad stated that the needs and vision of the organization were evolving and that "a change is what is in the best interest of both the Twins and of Derek."
Legacy
During his nine-year tenure, Falvey led the Twins to four postseason appearances and three division titles, including a Wild Card Series victory in 2023. The team struggled in 2025, finishing 70–92.
