The lead
June 11, 2026 - Baltimore - Pete Alonso homered to cap a six-run third inning against Bryan Woo, Adley Rutschman drove in three runs, and the Baltimore Orioles withstood three Seattle homers in a 7-5 win that salvaged a split of the four-game series, per the Associated Press recap on CBS Sports.
Tyler Wells finished with 14 pitching FP in AthX Engine scoring. Baltimore graded at 12 team FP.
How the game turned
Cole Young opened the slugfest with a leadoff homer on the third pitch of the game, his first career leadoff shot. Woo retired the first six Orioles before Colton Cowser went deep leading off the third.
After a bases-loaded wild pitch, Rutschman doubled in two runs and Alonso sent Woo's next pitch deep into the left-field seats for a 6-1 lead. Seattle answered with homers from Luke Raley and Dominic Canzone off Kyle Bradish, the first time Bradish had allowed more than two homers in 80 major league starts.
Rutschman added a run-scoring single in the fifth to restore margin. Andrew Kittredge worked the ninth for his first save.
Pitching and matchup notes
Bradish lasted four innings. Wells (1-1) pitched three hitless frames in relief for the win. Woo (5-5) took the loss after the six-run third.
For Baltimore, splitting a series with the AL West-leading Mariners was the right outcome after dropping the opener.
Bats that changed the board
Rutschman's 7 FP and Alonso's big third-inning blast drove most of Baltimore's value. Wells' 14 FP relief line topped the pitching side of the Orioles ledger.
AthX Engine fantasy angle
AthX Engine graded Baltimore at 12 team FP in a game where the third-inning rally and relief work mattered more than the final margin. High-leverage middle relief can register strongly in daily pitching scoring, separate from dynamic pricing.
What comes next
The Orioles begin a road trip Friday, per the MLB schedule.
