August 27, 2026 – Washington – The Washington Nationals scored two in the first, got a homer from Daylen Lile, and beat the Colorado Rockies 7-1.
One night after Colorado scored 13 here, Washington scored seven and allowed one. Lile went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI. Keibert Ruiz hit a two-run shot in the eighth.
Jake Irvin started and lasted 4 1/3 with one run. Tom Cosgrove got the win with 1 2/3 scoreless. Gabriel Hughes allowed four in five innings and took the loss.
Two in the first, then Lile's 18th
CJ Abrams scored on Lile's single in the first. Brady House's sacrifice fly scored Dylan Crews. 2-0. Brett Sullivan singled home Willi Castro in the third. 2-1. Crews grounded home Jacob Young in the fourth. Lile homered in the fifth. 4-1.
House doubled home Lile in the eighth. Ruiz homered, his ninth, scoring House. 7-1. Washington never needed extra innings. Colorado never got the lineup that hit four homers on Wednesday back in the same room.
Lile's night sat next to Chourio and Caglianone on Thursday's hitter board. The difference is context. Washington was answering a blowout. Colorado was trying to prove 13 runs was a series, not a night.
