July 20, 2026 – Seattle – The Reds never got comfortable. George Kirby never needed to raise his voice.
George Kirby and three relievers combined on a three-hitter. Cal Raleigh hit his sixth career grand slam and finished with five RBIs. And the Seattle Mariners blanked the Cincinnati Reds 8-0, per the Associated Press.
Kirby's sixth straight quality start. Raleigh's 10th homer of a slow .163 season. AthX Engine put Kirby atop Monday's board.
Julio's chopper, then the slam
Julio Rodríguez's infield single off Andrew Abbott (5-6) scored Victor Robles for 1-0 in the fifth. Rodríguez exited soon after as a precaution. Raleigh's slam made it a rout. He added another RBI on a groundout in the eighth.
Kirby (8-8) needed 80 pitches for six scoreless innings, six strikeouts, one walk. Edwin Arroyo was the only Red past second, and Robles threw him out at the plate on a shallow fly in the third. Abbott still posted solid AthX Engine pitching FP on the loss side; Seattle just owned the night.
