Mariners 3, Orioles 0: Woo Throws Seven Scoreless, Emerson Drives in Two

The lead

June 18, 2026 - Seattle - Bryan Woo pitched seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts, Colt Emerson drove in two first-inning runs, and the Seattle Mariners beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-0, per the Associated Press recap on CBS Sports.

Seattle finished fifth on the Thursday team board at 14 FP in AthX Engine scoring.

How the game turned

The Mariners scored all three runs in the first with two outs against Shane Baz (4-7). Josh Naylor singled and reached second on an error before Cole Young doubled him home. Emerson followed with a single to right to score Young.

Woo (6-5) allowed three hits and matched his season high with nine strikeouts. It was a bounce-back after he gave up a career-high seven runs at Baltimore on June 11.

Pitching and matchup notes

Woo pitched into the eighth inning for the first time this season and has not allowed a run in his last four home starts. Eduard Bazardo worked the eighth after Baltimore put its first two runners on, and Andres Munoz recorded his 12th save.

Baz struck out nine and walked two in seven innings, retiring 15 of the final 16 batters he faced after a shaky first trip through the lineup. Julio Rodriguez rested with a hamstring spasm.

Bats that changed the board

Woo's 27 FP topped the pitching board. Emerson's two RBIs paced a small but efficient offensive line. AthX Engine graded Seattle at 14 team FP.

AthX Engine fantasy angle

AthX Engine rewards shutout innings with high strikeout totals even on low-scoring nights. Woo's seven-inning gem registers at the top of the pitching board, separate from dynamic pricing.

What comes next

The Orioles opened a series Friday at the Dodgers. Seattle hosted Boston with Bryce Miller on the mound Friday.
