Dodgers 6, Tigers 1: Glasnow's Seven Innings, Two Wild Pitches in the Eighth

Two hits for Detroit. Seven innings for Glasnow.

August 30, 2026 – Detroit – Tyler Glasnow needed 85 pitches to get through seven. The Detroit Tigers put two hits on the board against him. One of them scored. That was the whole home offense.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won 6-1. Framber Valdez, now in a Tigers uniform, lasted six innings and took the loss. Teoscar Hernández hit the ball that made the middle innings stop being close. Two wild pitches in the eighth made the last three runs look messy, which they were.

Tied 1-1, then Hernández to left-center

Freddie Freeman reached and scored in the fourth on Miguel Rojas's sacrifice fly to right. 1-0. Gleyber Torres scored in the bottom half on Kevin McGonigle's single to left. 1-1. Comerica had a game that still looked like Valdez versus Glasnow.

The sixth ended that look. Freeman was on. Hernández hit a fly ball to left-center, 434 feet per ESPN, his 12th homer. 3-1. Valdez (8-10) finished six innings, six hits, three earned, one walk, five strikeouts, 105 pitches. The homer was the difference he could not get back. Jacob Waguespack threw a clean seventh. The eighth did not stay clean.

Rainey's eighth, twice

Mookie Betts doubled to left. Freeman walked. Hernández was hit by a pitch. Tanner Rainey then threw a wild pitch. Betts scored. 4-1. Max Muncy singled to right and scored Freeman. 5-1. Another wild pitch scored Hernández. 6-1. Rainey lasted a third of an inning, two hits, two walks, three earned. Kyle Finnegan struck out the next two. Kyle Tucker had walked in the traffic. None of that undid the three runs.

Kyle Hurt threw a scoreless eighth. Seth Halvorsen finished the ninth. Glasnow (4-0) had already done the work: seven innings, two hits, one earned, one walk, six strikeouts. McGonigle's single was the Tigers' run. Torres had the other hit that mattered, the one that scored. Detroit went 2-for-the-night against the starter and added nothing against the bullpen.

Freeman went 2-for-2 with two walks, a double, and three runs. Hernández went 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs, and two RBI. Betts doubled and scored. Muncy's single was the fifth run. Rojas's sac fly was the first. Los Angeles had nine hits. Detroit had two, plus an error in the eighth that fit the inning even if the wild pitches had already done the scoring.
