Brewers 8, Mets 1: Turang's Three-Run Homers After May Lasted One Out

May threw one out. Gasser threw the rest of the story.

August 26, 2026 – New York – Dustin May recorded one out. That was his night.

Robert Gasser took over, threw 5 1/3 innings, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the New York Mets 8-1 at Citi Field. Brice Turang hit a three-run homer in the fourth. Sal Frelick had three hits.

Robert Stock lasted four innings for New York and allowed seven runs on 10 hits. The Mets scored once, on Francisco Alvarez's single in the fourth.

Four in the second, then Turang's 17th

David Hamilton singled home Luis Lara in the second. Frelick singled in two. Garrett Mitchell singled in another. 4-0 before Stock recorded a clean inning.

Turang's homer in the fourth, his 17th, scored Cooper Pratt and Mitchell. 7-0. Alvarez got New York on the board. Christian Yelich singled home Frelick in the sixth. 8-1.

Gasser: 5 1/3 IP, six hits, one run, two walks, six strikeouts. He inherited a game May had barely started and turned it into a quality outing. Grant Anderson finished the seventh. Milwaukee never needed a closer.

Frelick went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Turang went 1-for-3 with three RBI. The Mets' 10 hits against Milwaukee's staff did not cluster. Stock's 10 hits against Milwaukee's lineup did.

AthX Engine scored the blowout, not May's pitch count

AthX Engine put Milwaukee at 18 team fantasy points, tied for third on Wednesday. Turang's 10 hitting FP matched the top of the hitter board. New York finished at minus-7. A 8-1 home loss after a four-run second grades that way.

What's next

These clubs played again Thursday. Milwaukee just won with its second pitcher of the first inning. New York has to get a starter through the second without giving up four.
