AthX NHL Top 10: Rantanen 15.60, Leafs and Lightning 23.20

Eleven finals on Tuesday. Toronto and Tampa Bay both won 6-2. Carolina waited until the third in Vancouver. Los Angeles got its first win of the year. San Jose came from 3-1 in overtime. Edmonton needed a 4-on-3 on Evan Bouchard's birthday. AthX Engine (our projection and scoring system) scored every NHL box. We recapped the six highest team lines. Four clubs tied at 17.80. Macklin Celebrini at 15.10 and Leon Draisaitl at 11.40 broke that tie, so the Sharks and Oilers are in. Joel Hofer's 14.60 in a 2-1 St. Louis win is the goalie gem just outside the cut. We did not invent a seventh recap.

Top team fantasy scores

AthX Engine team points pay a win, half-credit for an overtime loss, then goals for and against. A 6-2 pays like a night that got away from the home club in the second. A 4-3 overtime win still pays. A regulation loss that scores twice can sit near the floor.

9Dallas Stars3-2 OT vs BOS16.60
9New York Islanders3-2 vs ANA16.60

Toronto and Tampa Bay own the club night on matching 6-2 math. Carolina is a goal against behind. Los Angeles's first win is 21.00. Four 4-3 winners sit at 17.80. Dallas and New York are 16.60. St. Louis Blues won 2-1 and sit at 15.40, last among Tuesday's winners, which is why Hofer's night does not get a seventh recap.

Top skaters

C, W, and D only. Goalies have their own table. Easton Cowan's 11.20 includes the short-handed bonus from the NHL landing. Nicolas Deslauriers's 9.20 sits just outside this ten.

Rantanen's 15.60 is a hat trick in a 3-2 overtime that missed the recap cut. Celebrini's 15.10 is two goals, including the overtime winner, from a 3-1 hole. Stankoven at 14.00 and Ehlers at 12.90 are the Carolina third period. Kempe's 11.60 is the first Kings win. Draisaitl's 11.40 is two power-play goals. Cowan's 11.20 is the short-handed one plus two assists. Broberg's 11.10 lives in the unreapped 2-1. Panarin and Roslovic close the ten.

Top goalies

Win, 0.4 per save, minus 1.2 per goal against, plus 2 for a shutout, plus 0.5 for an overtime loss. No shutouts on the slate. Devon Levi and Leevi Merilainen are unlinked.

Hofer matches 14.60 on 32 saves and one goal against in a 2-1 that did not make the recap six. Vasilevskiy is 13.40 on 32 saves. Kuemper's first Kings win is 12.60. Nedeljkovic and Allen share 11.80. Wedgewood's 37-save loss in Newark is 11.20. Levi's overtime win is 10.20 unlinked. Merilainen stopped 38 and still lost 6-3.

Featured games

Tuesday had 11 finals. These six are the recap cut.

  • Maple Leafs 6, Blue Jackets 2
  • Lightning 6, Golden Knights 2
  • Hurricanes 6, Canucks 3
  • Kings 5, Capitals 2
  • Sharks 4, Canadiens 3 (OT)
  • Oilers 4, Wild 3 (OT)
  • What stood out

    Three things.

First, the skater board is a hat trick that did not make the recap six, then a 19-year-old who just beat Montreal again. Rantanen at 15.60. Celebrini at 15.10. Stankoven at 14.00. Auston Matthews is 8.80 in a 6-2. Connor McDavid is 10.40 with three assists and no goal.

Second, the goalie board is a 35-save road win tied with a 32-save 2-1 that sits outside the team cut. Stolarz and Hofer share 14.60. That is the gem: Hofer, not a seventh recap.

Third, four clubs tied at 17.80. Celebrini and Draisaitl decided which two of those games we wrote. New Jersey's 4-3 over Colorado and Seattle's shootout over Detroit stay on the team table. That is an 11-game Tuesday. No extra recaps.
