Lightning 6, Golden Knights 2: Kucherov Ties Stamkos

October 20, 2026 - Las Vegas - Nikita Kucherov poked it off Jeremy Lauzon at the blue line, walked in alone, and made it 6-2. T-Mobile Arena had already seen the Lightning take the game in the second. This was the stamp. The NHL recap put Kucherov at 1,137 points (405 goals, 732 assists) in 888 games, even with Steven Stamkos (1,137 points in 1,082 games), who now plays in Nashville.

The Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Vegas Golden Knights 6-2. Tampa Bay is 7-2-0, three in a row and seven of eight. The Associated Press recap called it the club's best start since 7-1-1 in 2020-21. Vegas is 8-3-0 after three in a row. Shots were 34-21 Vegas. Carter Hart and Jeremy Lauzon are not seeded on AthX player pages, so those names stay unlinked.

Anthony Cirelli scored twice and did not play in the third. Jon Cooper did not provide an update, the NHL recap said. Cirelli's last shift ended with 1:09 left in the second. Brandon Hagel, John Carlson, Victor Hedman, and Kucherov scored once each. Kucherov added two assists. Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 32 of 34. Mark Stone scored short-handed. 2-2 after a short-handed answer

Hagel opened it at 4:11 of the first, a power-play redirect of Charle-Edouard D'Astous from the point. 1-0.

Barbashev tied it at 13:16 on a rebound after Vasilevskiy stopped Mitch Marner point-blank. D'Astous had broken his stick on a clear, the NHL recap said. 1-1.

Carlson put Tampa Bay back in front 48 seconds later. Vegas was changing. Hart stopped the first shot. Carlson got his own rebound below the right circle and had an empty net. 2-1.

Stone tied it at 18:30, short-handed from the left circle. Braeden Bowman intercepted Vasilevskiy's pass up the boards and found him wide open. 2-2. Stone has scored in three straight and has eight points (five goals, three assists) in a four-game streak, the NHL recap said.

Cirelli twice, then the record

Cirelli made it 3-2 at 6:44 of the second, a one-timer in front off Kucherov, who chased a rebound below the goal line.

Cirelli's second came at 10:09 from the edge of the left circle after Jack Eichel turned it over to him. 4-2.

Hedman pushed it to 5-2 at 17:56 from along the left boards. The Associated Press recap said those five Lightning goals came on 14 shots. Carlson told NHL.com special teams stood up, the power play got one early, and they found the third and fourth.

Kucherov stole and scored at 5:16 of the third. Cooper told NHL.com guys like him do not come around, and that he has given Tampa Bay a decade of awesome. Hedman told NHL.com you just try to get open windows and give him the puck.

Marner extended a seven-game point streak (one goal, nine assists), the NHL recap said. The AP recap said Kucherov has a point in all 15 games he has played against Vegas. Brett Howden, drafted by Tampa Bay in 2016, played his 500th NHL game, 322 of them for Vegas.

Fantasy points measure the box. Price is what traders will pay for a Lightning winger who just caught Stamkos, and for a Golden Knights group that was 8-2-0 before this one. They are not the same number.

Track Kucherov, Cirelli, Vasilevskiy, and both clubs on the marketplace. Tampa Bay visits Colorado on Friday. Vegas visits St. Louis on Thursday.
