Astros 5, Yankees 1: Walker and Peña Go Deep in the Bronx

Cole went six. Houston still left with the split.

August 27, 2026 – New York – Isaac Paredes singled home Jeremy Peña in the third. Christian Walker homered in the sixth. Peña homered in the seventh.

The Houston Astros beat the New York Yankees 5-1 at Yankee Stadium. New York took Wednesday 9-3. Houston took Thursday. The series split.

Gerrit Cole threw six innings, six hits, three runs, one walk, five strikeouts. Hayden Wesneski threw five innings, three hits, one run, six strikeouts. The bullpens decided the rest, and Houston's was quieter.

Walker in the sixth, Peña in the seventh

Wesneski held New York to Cody Bellinger's sacrifice fly in the sixth, which scored Ben Rice after Walker's two-run shot had made it 3-0. 3-1. Peña's solo homer in the seventh, his 16th, made it 4-1.

Yainer Diaz reached on an error in the eighth, and Walker scored. 5-1. AJ Blubaugh threw two scoreless. Steven Okert had already handled the sixth. New York did not get another run.

Walker went 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI, and two runs. Peña had the other homer. Cole's six innings were fine. Three runs in Yankee Stadium is not a disaster. Houston's extra-base hits were the difference after Wednesday's four-run seventh went the other way.

AthX Engine scored the split, not the 9-3 night

AthX Engine put Houston at 12 team fantasy points. Walker's 11 hitting FP tied Lile near the top of Thursday's hitter board. New York finished at minus-4. A 5-1 home loss behind Cole still grades as a quiet night on the team sheet.

What's next

Houston stole the finale. New York has to start a new series without the 9-3 hangover. Walker and Peña just reminded the Bronx that Wednesday was not a series.
