Yankees to Add Paul Goldschmidt on 1-Year, $4 Million Deal
The New York Yankees will add first baseman Paul Goldschmidt once his one-year, $4 million contract is finalized. The move was announced in conjunction with the Max Schuemann trade from Oakland on Monday.
Roster Fit
To create room for Schuemann, the Yankees designated outfielder Yanquiel Fernández for assignment. A corresponding move will add Goldschmidt to the 40-man roster when his deal is official. Goldschmidt, a former MVP and multi-time All-Star, gives the Yankees an experienced right-handed bat at first base.
