Vikings 9, Bears 3: Turner Walks It Off in the Rain

September 20, 2026 - Chicago - Fourth-and-2 from the Minnesota 12. One second on the clock. Tyson Bagent took the snap. Dallas Turner threw him down, then ran the other way in the rain.

The Minnesota Vikings beat the Chicago Bears 9-3. No touchdowns. Paid crowd: 58,914, soaked. Minnesota is 2-0. Chicago is 1-1. A week earlier these clubs combined for 98 points, the most by Week 2 opponents in NFL history, the Bears wrote. Sunday was the lowest-scoring game in the series, Minnesota said.

Caleb Williams went 15 of 26 for 138 yards, one interception, and five carries for 42. He left with a right hamstring on a scramble from the 6. Carson Wentz started for Minnesota with Kyler Murray in concussion protocol and went 11 of 20 for 143. Aaron Jones ran 23 times for 105. Will Reichard made 35, 49, and 39.

3-3, then 6-3, then a fumble at the 1

Reichard opened from 35 after nine plays. Dillon Thieneman hit Justin Jefferson in the back of the end zone on third-and-6 from the 17, the Bears wrote. Jefferson still had the 30-yard catch that set the kick up. The Vikings said that catch moved him past Randy Moss for second on the franchise receptions list.

Williams scrambled 19, then 6, and Cairo Santos answered from 50 after Tory Taylor pulled down a high snap. 3-3. Reichard from 49 made it 6-3 at 8:18 of the second. Chicago had 93 yards at the half and seven first-half penalties, Ben Johnson said. Four of five plays on one series were flags.

The Bears opened the third with 12, 11, 15, and 12 on the ground and reached first-and-goal at the 1. Williams lofted an 8-yarder to Kalif Raymond on third-and-8. Then D'Andre Swift met Jalen Redmond. The ball came out. Isaiah Rodgers recovered at the 1. Swift told the AP that if he does not give it up, the outcome might change.

Byron Murphy had already picked Williams in the first quarter. Blake Cashman had 10 tackles and a sack. He left in the third and came back. Minnesota finished with four sacks. Turner had two of them.

Hamstring, a blocked 23, then Turner

Williams still drove Chicago to first-and-goal from the 6 with less than eight minutes left. He scrambled left, slid, and did not get touched. He was carted. Johnson first thought knee. He later said he was glad it was not, and that a hamstring can still be damaging.

Bagent came in. One-yard completion to Swift. Incomplete on third. Santos from 23. Rodgers came off the edge and blocked it with 6:21 left. The Vikings kept 6-3.

Wentz then went 11 plays and 67 yards. Reichard from 39 with 1:09 left. 9-3. Chicago started at its 35 with a minute. Bagent hit Luther Burden III three times for 32 yards, the Bears wrote, and Rome Odunze for 21. Minnesota 12. Two incompletions. Turner on the last snap. Officials had put one second back after an incompletion, the Vikings wrote.

Bagent finished 5 of 9 for 54. Chicago had 297 yards, 134 of them rushing. Kyle Monangai ran 10 times for 47. Swift had 16 for 45 and five catches for 54. Minnesota had 246 yards, 11 first downs, and 3 of 13 on third down, Chicago said. The Bears reached the 1, the 5, and the 12 and scored zero points from those trips.

Flores in the rain, 2-0 in the North

Kevin O'Connell loved Brian Flores' plan from Tuesday, he told the AP. Johnson called weather the big story and said both coordinators made it hard. He was proud of a defense that allowed one red-zone trip, the opening drive that died at the 17.

Minnesota's seventh straight win at Soldier Field matched a franchise record for consecutive road wins over a division opponent, the AP wrote. The Vikings are 2-0 against the NFC North for the first time since 2003, the club mailbag said. Jones is 16-2 in 18 career games against Chicago, Minnesota added. Jordan Mason and Jauan Jennings were out. Jones still got 23 carries.

Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins hurt a hip. Tyrique Stevenson hurt a hamstring. O'Connell thought Murray would clear protocol early in the week. Minnesota visited Tampa Bay the next Sunday. Chicago hosted Philadelphia on Sept. 28. Williams later missed multiple weeks with the hamstring. That started here, on a slide nobody hit.

Jefferson caught three for 55. T.J. Hockenson had three for 29, the Vikings radio postgame said. Wentz did not turn it over on a field that never dried. He called the defense unreal. Turner said he prepares for these moments. He still took the victory lap in the rain.

AthX Engine on a 9-3 defensive night

AthX Engine NFL scoring already has the Week 2 line in. Murphy's interception lands at 54.50, the top total in this game. Turner is 36.50. Cashman is 36.00. Dayo Odeyingbo is 34.00. Austin Booker is 32.00. Jones is 26.25. Swift is 25.25. Reichard is 23.00. Minnesota's team line is 46.75. Chicago's is minus-12.75, a loss and three points against nine allowed.

Fantasy points measure the box. Price is what traders will pay for a Vikings front that ended the night with a sack, and for Williams after a hamstring that emptied Soldier Field. They move together. They are not the same number.

Track Williams, Jones, Jefferson, Murphy, and both clubs on the marketplace. Chicago visits Atlanta on Oct. 18. Minnesota is on a bye in Week 6.
