Vikings 13, Giants 10: Wentz to Price Wins It After Dart's Scare

August 15, 2026 - East Rutherford - Kyler Murray got one series in purple. Jaxson Dart got flattened, walked into the blue tent, came back, and still found the end zone. Carson Wentz and Myles Price decided it.

The Minnesota Vikings beat the New York Giants 13-10 at MetLife Stadium. Justin Jefferson did not play. Jamal Adams left on a cart with a right knee injury. John Harbaugh's first night as Giants coach ended 0-1.

Murray's one drive, then McCarthy

Murray completed 2-of-3 for 10 yards. Kevin O'Connell played the first-team offense for that series only, minus Jefferson. A field goal was the result. Murray called it the most excited he had been for a preseason game.

"I had a blast," Murray said. "Today was everything I thought it would be."

J.J. McCarthy, now the backup after Murray's arrival, struggled on his first possession and finished 4-of-7 for 34 yards.

Dart, the tent, and Malachi Fields

Dart was sacked twice on six dropbacks. The second one, from Vikings safety Jay Ward, sent him to the concussion tent. He returned two snaps later and completed a 15-yard touchdown to rookie Malachi Fields on his last play of the night. Final line: 3-of-4, 26 yards, one TD.

Dart said he respects the league's health rules and still feels puzzled every time a hit puts him in the tent. "I'm still puzzled by it just feeling like every time I get hit, I find my way in there," he said.

Odell Beckham Jr. drew a roar in the second quarter on his first catch back in Giants blue: 6 yards from Jameis Winston. He added one more reception for no gain.

Adams carted, Price wins it

Adams went down on a noncontact play early in the second quarter, grabbed his right knee, and left on a cart. It was his first game with Minnesota after signing on the eve of camp. O'Connell said the initial exam did not look good.

"We've absolutely loved his play style, his compete and he was genuinely carving out a significant role for himself," O'Connell said. "It just kills you."

Myles Price kept a strong camp going into the game: four catches, 51 yards, including a one-handed touchdown from Wentz in the third that put Minnesota ahead for good. Fourth-stringer Max Brosmer later exited with a thumb injury on his throwing hand.
