Gio Urshela, Orlando Arcia Headline Twins Non-Roster Invitees
Just days before camp opens, the Minnesota Twins announced their full list of non-roster invitees to Spring Training. The list is headlined by veteran infielders Gio Urshela and Orlando Arcia, plus top prospects Walker Jenkins (MLB Pipeline No. 14 overall) and Kaelen Culpepper (No. 52).
Veterans
Urshela played third base for the Twins in 2022; he's now mostly limited to third, first, and DH. With established starters at the corners, his odds of making the roster are long. Arcia has a better chance to earn the backup shortstop role behind Brooks Lee, as there's no clear alternative. Six NRIs appeared in the Major Leagues last year: Urshela, Arcia, catcher David Bañuelos, and pitchers Dan Altavilla, Matt Bowman, and Grant Hartwig.
