Saints 24, Ravens 17: Shough Sneaks, Blackmon Ends It

September 20, 2026 - Baltimore - Tyler Shough disappeared into the pile twice. Officials said he was short on third down and in on fourth. Replay let the second call stand. The New Orleans Saints had the lead with 1:28 left, and they were not giving it back.

New Orleans beat the Baltimore Ravens 24-17 in Baltimore's home opener. The Saints are 1-1. The Ravens are 1-1. Shough was 27 of 34 for 252 yards, a touchdown pass, and the sneak. Lamar Jackson threw for 235 and one score, ran for 34, and threw the interception that ended it.

14-3, then a half that would not stay 14-3

Derrick Henry scored from a yard after 12 plays and 76 yards. 7-0. Daniel Carlson answered from 23. 7-3. Jackson found Rashod Bateman from 22. 14-3. Carlson made 47 as the half expired. 14-6. Baltimore had the points. New Orleans had the second half.

Carlson opened the third from 51. 14-9. Tyler Loop answered from 49 after 14 plays that gained 37 yards. 17-9. That was Baltimore's last score. The Ravens had seven penalties, the club wrote. One of them, a hold on Jaylinn Hawkins, wiped a stop on New Orleans' two-point try.

Shough hit Chris Olave from 21 with 9:42 left. The penalty moved the conversion to the 1. Travis Etienne beat Baltimore to the right corner. 17-17. ESPN said Baltimore then went backwards 16 yards and punted.

Fourth-and-1 from the 1, then Blackmon

Juwan Johnson turned third-and-8 into 26 yards to the 4 with 1:54 left, both clubs wrote. A penalty and an incompletion burned Baltimore's timeouts. Kellen Moore went for the touchdown on fourth down instead of a field goal that would have made it a three-point game. Shough sneaked. The call stood. 24-17.

Jackson still had a chance. Julian Blackmon intercepted him. New Orleans ran out what was left. Moore told ESPN the sneak is a hard play because officials sometimes lose the ball. He was going for six anyway. If it fails, Baltimore starts at the 1.

Olave caught eight for 86 and the score. Johnson had four for 66. Devaughn Vele added five for 64. Henry ran 16 times for 68 and the first touchdown. Bateman caught seven for 88 and the 22-yarder. Mark Andrews had six for 49. Jackson was sacked three times. Shough was sacked three times. Chase Young had 1.5 of those. Kyle Hamilton was on the field for it. Trenton Simpson and Mike Green were too. None of them stopped the sneak.

ESPN's scoring summary matches the clubs: Henry from a yard in the first, Carlson from 23 and 47 before the half, Bateman from 22, Carlson from 51, Loop from 49, Olave from 21, Shough from a yard. New Orleans scored 0, 6, 3, and 15 by quarter. Baltimore scored 7, 7, 3, and 0. The fourth quarter was the game.

Baltimore scored 41 in Indianapolis a week earlier. On Sunday the second half was three points. Henry never found a second crease. The Ravens said the Saints outscored them 18-3 after halftime. That is the loss in one number.

A first win that started 14-3 down

Shough's second half is why New Orleans left with a win. He completed 27 of 34. He ran nine times for 23 and the sneak. Carlson was 3 of 3 from 23, 47, and 51. Loop missed one and made 49. New Orleans finished 8 of 15 on third down after starting 4 of 6, Baltimore wrote.

The Saints visit Las Vegas next. Baltimore goes to Rio de Janeiro for Dallas. One home opener is in the books. It did not look like Week 1. Jackson still had 235 yards. He also had the pick in scoring range. Shough had the sneak that counted. New Orleans had first down at the 2 before the penalty, ESPN wrote. Baltimore had two timeouts and still could not keep the clock from becoming fourth-and-goal. Moore took the points. Blackmon took the ball.

Young, Pete Werner, and Blackmon owned the defensive tape. Werner had a sack and eight solo tackles in the nflverse line. That is how a 14-3 hole becomes 24-17 on the road.

AthX Engine on a comeback that paid the front

AthX Engine NFL scoring already has the Week 2 line in. Young's 1.5 sacks land at 46.50, the top total in this game. Werner is 44.00. Blackmon is 40.00. Shough is 37.91. Bateman and Olave are 31.50. Jackson is 31.30. Henry is 29.25. New Orleans' team line is 66.75. Baltimore is 3.50.

Fantasy points measure the box. Price is what traders will pay for Jackson after a home opener that slipped, and for a Saints quarterback who just won on fourth down at the 1. They move together. They are not the same number.

Track Jackson, Henry, Olave, Young, and both clubs on the marketplace. New Orleans visited Las Vegas on Sept. 27. Baltimore played Dallas in Rio that night.
