Four hits in a row, and the series was over

Sal Stewart went deep. JJ Bleday singled. Tyler Stephenson doubled him home. Nathaniel Lowe singled Stephenson home. Three runs. Four straight hits. The Cincinnati Reds were gone and never came back, beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-2 and taking three of four.
Chase Burns won his 12th straight decision. That is the first such streak for a Reds pitcher since Brooks Lawrence in 1956.
Burns kept it simple while the lineup stacked runs
Burns threw six innings, allowed one run on two hits, walked two, and struck out nine. His ERA is 2.35. It was his 17th start this season with two runs or fewer.
Ke'Bryan Hayes, the former Pirate, homered in the second. Elly De La Cruz singled home two in the third. Lowe and Dane Myers doubled home more in the fourth. By the time the rain delay in the fourth slowed the grounds crew, the game was already 9-1 and Pittsburgh manager Don Kelly had been ejected for arguing the field conditions.
The tarp never came out. Steady rain fell. Drying compound went on the infield. Cincinnati kept hitting.
Camilo Doval made his Pirates debut in the eighth after Saturday's trade from the Yankees. Stephenson greeted him with an opposite-field homer. That is a rough first outing in a new uniform.
Stewart's 24th homer tied Joey Votto for second-most by a Reds rookie. Frank Robinson still owns the mark with 38 in 1956.
