Power play, a deflection, then Cuylle again

Lafrenière made it 4-2 at 1:04 of the third on the power play from Perreault and Zibanejad. The NHL recap said Lankinen was out of the crease after contacting Miller above the blue paint. The officials conferred. The goal stood. No challenge from Vancouver. Perreault was on the first unit in place of Pavel Dorofeyev, who Sullivan said was fighting it a little bit.

Perreault tipped Adam Fox at 5:57, Zibanejad the other helper. 5-2.

Cuylle scored again at 15:22 off a rebound from Eeli Tolvanen and Braden Schneider. 6-2. The NHL recap said New York has outscored opponents 9-1 in the third period at home, including 3-0 on Sunday.

Garand told NHL.com it is tough when you lose your best player. A blow to the group. Pro sports. Players get injured. He thought the guys stepped up. Sullivan: maturity. Enthusiasm is still there. Expectations don't change. Next man up.

Vancouver coach Manny Malhotra told NHL.com it is not a great feeling when the losses add up. The test of character is coming to the rink ready to work. O'Connor: bad third period. First two were pretty good. They gave one up early on the penalty kill and let it snowball.
