President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said the Philadelphia Phillies are "doing everything we can" to trade two-time All-Star outfielder Nick Castellanos before camp opens later this week. Dombrowski was noncommittal about whether Castellanos would report to camp if a move hasn't happened by then.
Context
The Phillies are also managing Zack Wheeler's absence (thoracic outlet surgery; not expected back for Opening Day) and are prioritizing rotation depth. Dombrowski noted that adding to the organization's pitching depth remains a priority in the coming days. Moving Castellanos would free payroll and create roster flexibility.
