Jaguars 19, Buccaneers 0: Little from 61, Wortham from 63, a Shutout

August 28, 2026 - Jacksonville - Cam Little made it 3-0 from 61 yards. Michael Wortham made it a blowout from 63 on a punt return. The Jacksonville Jaguars shut out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19-0 at EverBank Stadium.

Trevor Lawrence did not play. The Jaguars listed him among a long group of scratches. He sat the entire preseason. Baker Mayfield sat too. Both clubs used the finale to look at depth.

Jacksonville finished 2-1. Tampa Bay finished 2-1.

Daniels started. The Bucs never scored.

Jalon Daniels, an undrafted rookie from Kansas, got a surprise start in the fight to back up Mayfield. He had led comebacks against the Jets and Kansas City. Friday was different. Tampa Bay punted on six of its first seven possessions. Daniels botched a snap on the other. He was sacked three times. He went 8 of 15 for 57 yards and ran four times for 9.

Receivers dropped third-down balls from Dean Patterson IV, Kameron Johnson, and Garrett Greene. Coach Todd Bowles said the staff wanted a long look. Daniels said there were miscues and that when you don't score, that is not what you want as a quarterback.

Nick Mullens started for Jacksonville and went 5 of 7 for 62 yards in a scoreless first quarter, including 34 yards to Hunter Long. Carter Bradley, Gus Bradley's son, took over: 8 of 15, 77 yards, a touchdown to DeeJay Dallas late in the third, then a scramble for two. Joey Aguilar finished 7 of 9 for 57. Aguilar hit Chandler Brayboy for the two-point play after Wortham's return. 19-0 with 5:48 left.

Rookie Bryan Thomas Jr. had 2.5 sacks. Wesley Williams recovered Daniels's fumbled snap at the Tampa Bay 15. That drive died when Benjamin Morrison broke up Bradley's throw to Austin Trammell on fourth-and-6 from the 11. T.J. Bollers had 1.5 sacks. Liam Coen called plays in the first half, then handed the headset to assistants.

Buccaneers linebacker Mohamed Kamara left in the third with an apparent left-knee injury. Long was shaken up after a Miles Killebrew hit.
