Giants 27, Texans 21 (OT): Singletary from 30 After Skattebo's 42

October 25, 2026 - Houston - Houston punted to open overtime. Cam Skattebo took the next carry 42 yards. Devin Singletary, who used to play here, scored from 30 with 7:25 left in the extra period.

The New York Giants beat the Houston Texans 27-21 at Reliant Stadium. New York is 4-2-1 and heads into a bye still first in the NFC East. Houston is 2-5. J.J. McCarthy started for the first time as a Giant, the third different starter this season after Jaxson Dart's knee and Jameis Winston's four-game run. He completed 20 of 28 for 252 yards, no touchdowns, no picks, three sacks, a 99.1 rating.

The Giants said it was their first overtime win since Oct. 3, 2021, at New Orleans, and their sixth straight over Houston, the first six-game winning streak against an AFC opponent in franchise history.

Tracy from 2, Winston from 1, 14-14 at the half

Ka'imi Fairbairn opened from 58 after six plays. 3-0. McCarthy's first five completions covered 96 yards, the Giants wrote, including 42 to Malik Nabers. Tyrone Tracy Jr. finished from 2. 7-3. It was New York's first opening-drive touchdown since Week 1.

Fairbairn made 57. 7-6. Then Winston, now the backup, scored from a yard. 14-6, 3:32 of the second. The Giants said four different players ran for touchdowns (Winston, Skattebo, Tracy, Singletary), the first time that had happened for them since Dec. 3, 1950, against the New York Yanks.

C.J. Stroud answered 90 yards in eight plays. Marvin Harrison Jr. scored from 6. Stroud hit Cade Stover for two. 14-14, 34 seconds left in the half. Harrison Jr. was a Cardinal as recently as Week 5 in AthX recaps. He scored here in a Houston uniform. We are not recycling last year's depth chart.

The third quarter was empty. Dominic Zvada missed from 56 and 44, which is why this game needed overtime at all, NFL.com wrote.

Skattebo from 16, Hutchinson from 3, then 81 yards in OT

Fourteen plays, 80 yards, 8:18. Skattebo broke tackles from 16. 21-14, 8:55 of the fourth. Stroud drove 48 yards. Xavier Hutchinson scored from 3 with 52 seconds left. Fairbairn tied it. 21-21.

Overtime: Texans punt. Skattebo 42. Singletary 30. Ballgame. Three plays, 81 yards, 1:29.

Skattebo ran 17 times for a career-high 124 yards and the 16-yarder, plus one catch for -3. The Giants said he had zero touches last week, forced six missed tackles, and generated four explosive carries after five through Week 6. Singletary had five carries for 41 and three catches for 14. Tracy ran six times for 15 and the opener. Nabers caught seven for 111, his fourth straight 100-yard game, matching the longest active streak in the NFL and the longest by a Giant since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2015. Malachi Fields added four for 83. Isaiah Likely caught two for 12. The Giants said Likely has 41 catches in his first seven games with New York.

McCarthy's 71.4 completion percentage was the second-highest by a Giant in a first start with the club, behind Bobby Clatterbuck in 1954, the notes said. Next Gen Stats had him 8 of 13 for 169 yards outside the numbers. He had five completions of 20-plus, matching a career high he set in last week's fourth quarter. Jermaine Eluemunor returned from a calf injury. New York converted both fourth-down tries. Houston converted its only fourth down. Tank Dell caught one for 43 in his return. Fairbairn's two makes from 57 and 58 were the only Houston points until the two-minute drill before halftime.

Stroud went 17 of 28 for 153, two scores, no picks, one sack. Woody Marks ran 19 times for 66. Dalton Schultz caught five for 45. Nico Collins had two for 6. NFL.com said Deonte Banks allowed Collins one catch for 4 yards on 14 matchups. Houston had 237 yards, 15 first downs, and 3 of 12 on third down. New York had 420, 22 first downs, 188 rushing yards, and 35:50 of possession, ESPN's team stats show. Neither club turned it over.

Micah McFadden had 10 solo tackles. Danielle Hunter had a sack. The Giants return from the bye at Philadelphia in Week 9, then host Washington on Thursday night.

AthX Engine NFL scoring already has the Week 7 Sunday line in. McFadden is 42.00, the top total in this game. Hunter is 37.00. Skattebo is 36.75. Henry To'oTo'o is 33.00. Nabers is 31.25. M.J. Stewart is 31.00. Stroud is 27.24. New York's team line is 69.25. Houston's is 9.75.

Fantasy points measure the box. Price is what traders will pay for a Giants back who just ran for 124 a week after zero touches, and for a Texans defense that entered the year as a featured unit and did not force a takeaway. They move together. They are not the same number.
