Giants 27, Commanders 27: Winston Ties It, Then the Clock Wins

October 11, 2026 - Landover - Jayden Daniels had the ball at the Giants 24, no timeouts, and a kicker waiting. He rolled, tucked, and went down for no gain with eight seconds left. Washington never spiked it. Dan Quinn ripped the headset off. The New York Giants and Washington Commanders tied 27-27.

New York is 3-1-1. Washington is 1-3-1. It is the Giants' first tie since they played this same club 20-20 on Dec. 4, 2022, the team notes said, and the third Giants-Washington tie since overtime arrived in 1974. Daniels was back from a second dislocated left elbow in Week 2, wearing a brace. He went 17 of 25 for 199 yards, no scores, and ran nine times for 103 and two touchdowns. Then he owned the last snap.

Jameis Winston started again with Jaxson Dart hurt. He was 33 of 54 for 326 yards and three scores, all in the second half. The Giants said he is the first New York quarterback with three second-half passing touchdowns since Eli Manning against Philadelphia on Sept. 24, 2017. Malik Nabers caught 11 for 121 and the tying 17-yarder. Isaiah Likely caught 11 for 94 and two scores.

12-3 at the half, then Daniels from 38

Jacory Croskey-Merritt ran 33 yards on Washington's first snap. Drew Stevens missed the extra point. 6-0. Dominic Zvada from 51. 3-6. Stevens from 28 and 40. 3-12 at the half. Croskey-Merritt finished 11 carries for 82 and that score.

Zvada from 56. 6-12. Daniels then ran 38 yards. 6-19. Winston found Likely from 3. 13-19. Daniels ran 26 at 11:05 of the fourth and threw to Terry McLaurin for two. 13-27. McLaurin caught four for 62. Washington had the two-score lead it came to the building for.

Winston did not leave it there. Likely from 17 at 7:20. 20-27. Nabers from 17 at 1:43. 27-27. Two 17-yard throws. The NFC East leaders had to come from 14 down with 11 minutes left. They did.

A missed 46, a punch-out, then eight seconds

Overtime gave both clubs a kick they never made. Zvada missed from 46, ESPN said. He was 2 of 5 on the day: 51 and 56 made, 50, 57, and 46 missed. Payne then stripped Skattebo at the Washington 24 with two minutes left, ESPN said. Skattebo had 13 carries for 59 and two catches for 12.

Daniels moved it. Three completions for 35 and a 16-yard scramble, ESPN said. Rachaad White ran 2 to the Giants 24 with about 50 seconds left. White finished seven for 18. Washington huddled. NFL.com had them still in the huddle with 27 seconds on the clock. They snapped it at 12. Three tight ends and Treylon Burks ran routes. Daniels turned upfield instead of throwing it away. Tackled at the line with eight seconds. No spike. Zero.

Daniels told ESPN the communication starts with him. Quinn told NBC the sequencing does not fall on the quarterback, that it should have been an out-of-bounds throw or a spike, and that he could have lined up the kick earlier. Both things can be in the same recap because both were said on the record.

A 326-yard comeback that still left Landover tied

Winston still hit 33 throws after falling behind by 14. Likely's 11-94-2 is a Giant line now. Nabers's 11-121-1 is the one traders already knew. Cam Skattebo almost set up the winner and instead set up Payne.

Daniels ran for two scores in his first game back and still had to explain a scramble. Stevens was 2 of 2 from 28 and 40 after the missed PAT. Chig Okonkwo caught four for 60. Andru Phillips had two sacks for New York. Abdul Carter had a sack and a forced fumble.

The Giants said it was the 35th tie in franchise history. All three of their most recent ones have come against Washington, including 7-7 on Nov. 23, 1997. New Orleans comes to MetLife on Oct. 18. Washington goes to San Francisco on Monday night. A tie is two points in the standings and zero peace. Daniels ran for 103 in a brace and still had to take the last question. Winston threw for 326 and still walked off even. That is the NFC East in one clock.

AthX Engine on a 103-yard scrambling tie

AthX Engine NFL scoring already has the Week 5 Sunday line in. Daniels's 199 passing and 103 rushing with two scores land at 55.67, the top total in this game. Likely is 52.00. Winston is 48.83. Nabers is 41.75. Both team lines are 42.75. A tie pays 9 AthX Engine team points, then points scored and allowed. Twenty-seven apiece does the rest.

Fantasy points measure the box. Price is what traders will pay for Daniels after the elbow and the last snap, and for Winston while Dart is out. They move together. They are not the same number.

Track Daniels, Nabers, Skattebo, McLaurin, and both clubs on the marketplace. The Saints visit the Giants on Oct. 18. Washington visits the 49ers on Oct. 19.
