Blue Jackets 4, Flyers 3 (OT): Johnson, Then 11 Seconds, Then Johnson Again

October 27, 2026 - Philadelphia - Columbus scored three times in 2:46. Then it stopped skating. The Flyers outshot them 28-6 over the last two periods, including 15-1 in the third, the NHL recap said. Jamie Drysdale tied it with 11 seconds left. Overtime lasted 2:22. Kent Johnson and Adam Fantilli went 2-on-0 the other way. Johnson finished it. Xfinity Mobile Arena had the point. Columbus had the extra one.

The Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime. Columbus is 5-5-0, consecutive wins for the first time this season after a 2-1 overtime win in Vegas on Saturday. Philadelphia is 3-7-4. The Associated Press recap said the Flyers have points in four of five after a franchise-record nine-game winless start. Shots were 31-15 Philadelphia. Fantilli, Denton Mateychuk, Mathieu Olivier, Jake Christiansen, Jamie Drysdale, Noah Cates, Porter Martone, Oliver Bonk, Christian Dvorak, and Cam York are not seeded on AthX player pages, so those names stay unlinked.

Johnson had two goals and an assist. Fantilli had a goal and an assist. Mateychuk scored. Zach Werenski had two assists. Cam Talbot stopped 28 of 31. Trevor Zegras had a goal and an assist. Cates scored. Drysdale scored. Dan Vladar stopped 11 of 15.

Three in 2:46, then the foot off the gas

Fantilli opened it at 10:58, 4-on-4. Give-and-go with Johnson. Wrist shot between Vladar's arm and ribs. Christiansen the other assist.

Johnson made it 2-0 at 12:54, a redirect of Werenski's one-timer from the point. Valeri Nichushkin had the other assist.

Mateychuk snapped one along the ice from the top of the circles at 13:44, through traffic. Olivier and Matthew Knies. 3-0.

Rick Bowness told NHL.com they got away from their game, knew Philadelphia would come in the second, and did not handle it. You take the foot off the gas in this league and you are on your heels.

Cates cut it to 3-1 at 9:59 of the second. Martone's shot from the top of the circles squeezed through Talbot. Cates beat his man to the net. Bonk the other assist.

Eleven seconds, then a 2-on-0

Zegras banked one in off Talbot's right hip at 15:04 of the third. Dvorak and Travis Sanheim. 3-2.

Vladar came out. Drysdale got to the net. Tyson Foerster's centering pass went off his skate at 19:49. Zegras the other assist. 3-3. Eleven seconds left.

Overtime: York crashed the net on Johnson, Johnson told NHL.com. The poke went the other way. 2-on-0. Fantilli gave him the whole net. 4-3 at 2:22. Werenski the other assist.

Rick Tocchet told NHL.com the Flyers have been chasing 60 minutes all year, did not do the game plan in the first, then looked like a different team. He called the point a moral victory and said the last week or two shows what they can be if they buy in for a full game. Werenski told NHL.com it feels good to clean things up after a win.

The NHL recap said Columbus has won six straight on the road against Philadelphia, and that this is the club's first winning streak of any kind since four in a row March 14-21 last season. Fantilli has seven points (two goals, five assists) in a six-game point streak against the Flyers. It was Johnson's third three-point NHL game. Dante Fabbro made his season debut after nine games out with an upper-body injury, three blocks in 14:51. York returned after eight games out, also upper body. Zegras has nine points (three goals, six assists) in a five-game point streak. Matvei Michkov's five-game point streak ended.
