Bills 37, Rams 34: Bass After Rousseau's Block in OT

October 12, 2026 - Inglewood - The Rams had the ball at the Buffalo 30 in overtime and a kicker on the grass. Greg Rousseau got a hand on Harrison Mevis from 48. Two scrambles later, Tyler Bass split the uprights from 45 and ran before the officials even put their arms up.

The Buffalo Bills beat the Los Angeles Rams 37-34 in overtime at SoFi Stadium. Buffalo is 4-1. Los Angeles is 2-3. Josh Allen went 12 of 19 for 210 yards, one score, and one pick, then ran 10 times for 121 and a 1-yard plunge. The Bills called it his second-highest rushing night. The club also called it his 100th career win and his first in eight overtime games.

Matthew Stafford was 40 of 54 for 383 yards and three touchdowns. No picks. Puka Nacua caught 17 for 138 and a 2-yarder, a career high in catches, the AP said. It still ended on a blocked kick.

Six points, then the second half caught fire

Bass opened from 49 at 13:23 of the first. He added 23 at 0:10. 6-0 after a quarter that had more flags than touchdowns. NFL.com said the clubs combined for 20 points, two touchdowns, and nine penalties before the half, then the fourth quarter exchanged scores on five straight possessions. Mevis missed from 50 in that same half. The AP and NFL.com both had him at two misses. nflverse lists the 50 as the recorded miss; the overtime block does not always land as a conventional miss in the weekly file.

Stafford found Davante Adams from 4 at 8:00 of the second. 7-6 Rams. James Cook answered from 17. 13-7 at the half. Cook finished 25 carries for 111 and two scores. Allen and Cook combined for 232 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, the Bills said.

Blake Corum punched in from a yard at 10:11 of the third. 14-13. Allen hit Keon Coleman from 7. Bass missed the extra point. 19-14. The lead was still thin. The fourth quarter was not.

Five touchdowns, then a 1-yard surge with four seconds left

Stafford hit Nacua from 2 at 14:16 of the fourth. The two-point pass failed. 20-19 Rams. Allen scored from a yard at 11:28 and threw to Dalton Kincaid for two. 27-20. Adams caught his second score from 5 at 7:14. 27-27. Cook from 5 at 1:39. 34-27.

Stafford completed six of seven on the next drive, the AP said, down to the 1. The Rams skipped a timeout so Kyren Williams could dive. He did, with four seconds left. 34-34. Williams ran 16 times for 49 and that score and caught six for 27. Corum added five for 19 and the third-quarter plunge, plus three catches for 53.

The Bills listed 13 penalties for 112 yards and two turnovers. They still had the ball first in overtime.

A punch-out, a block, two scrambles

Khalil Shakir took a short throw 57 yards to the Rams 22, the Bills said. Cook took the next handoff up the middle. Nate Landman punched it out. Aaron Donald recovered, the AP said. Stafford then hit two 21-yarders to the Buffalo 30. Third-and-5 became a Kyren handoff. Fourth down became Mevis from 48. Rousseau blocked it.

Allen ran 19, then 13. Bass from 45 at 1:55 of overtime. 37-34. The officials signaled good after Bass had already started celebrating. NFL.com said Sean McVay went conservative on third-and-5 from the 30 with Stafford still hot, handing to Williams instead of throwing, and that McVay sounded ready to change the kicking operation after the game. The Bills still had to cover the last 45 yards without Cook after the fumble. Allen covered them with his legs.

Adams finished five for 51 and two scores. Tyler Higbee caught five for 83. Ty Johnson caught four for 72. Shakir had three for 80. Coleman had the 7-yard score on his only catch. Jaylen Watson intercepted Allen. Landman forced two fumbles.

NFL.com counted six lead changes and 890 combined yards. The last meeting in December 2024 finished 44-42 Rams, the AP noted. This one needed special teams to pick a winner.
